Waterless Urinal Cartridges
The ground breaking waterless urinal cartridge uses integrated biological technology to improve airflow within the urinal, enabling it to self-ventilate while the purpose-made mesh catches harmful debris and prevents foreign materials from blocking pipes. One of the unique features of this efficient cartridge is its ability to eliminate unpleasant odours by reducing blockages, scale, sludge and uric acid build-ups, supported by 15 years of research, field trials and continuous product development. Expertly engineered biological blocks inside the cartridge contain ‘friendly’ microbes that combat harmful bacteria, prevent unpalatable smells and create a bio film that makes damaging elements more soluble. Classified as non-hazardous under COSHH Risk Assessments, each component works safely without harming the surrounding eco-system. Purposefully designed to fit a wide range of urinal systems, including reduced-flush devices as well as waterless urinals, these hygienic, cost-effective and eco-friendly cartridges are a vital part of any smart washroom system.
Waterless Urinal Adaptors
For those who have made the strategic decision to go waterless and are not satisfied with the results, we have developed a range of adapters to retro-fit functionally inferior systems. Therefore, avoiding the costly need to revert back to water flushing or change the fabric of the washroom.
All Waterless Urinal Adaptors are tried and tested and conform to relevant codes.

Frequently Asked Questions?
What is a water free urinal?
A water free urinal is a waterless alternative to the traditional flush system urinal. Not only does a water free urinal save water, it also saves energy, reduces the need for harmful cleaning products, and eliminates the bad odours associated with traditional systems supporting better urinal hygiene.
Water free urinals like VERTECO’s feature a groundbreaking cartridge, which eliminates the need for water completely. A cartridge allows air to flow, prevent bad smells, and features a mesh which stops blockages and overspills from happening. The waterless urinal also has a unique biological block, containing microbes which stop bad bacteria and improve overall hygiene.
How does a waterless urinal work?
A traditional, flush urinal has a strainer which catches debris when water goes down the bowl. The trapped debris can cause odours above and below the bowl and as limescale builds up, acts as a breeding ground for bad bacteria and is a major cause of blockages and overspill.
Waterless urinals such as VERTECO’s retrofit system, eliminates all of the issues associated with a traditional flush urinal. Through the use of their patented seal and cartridge (the waterless urinal cartridge technology), they offer a hygienic and cost-effective system. The cartridge allows the urinal to self-ventilate and its in-built bmesh stops and harmful material from blocking the system. The seal, full of friendly bacteria, prevents harmful bacteria and bad smells from developing, and helps to breakdown harmful things like lime scale and uric acid. They also serve as an alternative to flushless urinals solutions.
Are waterless urinals effective?
The water saving urinal also improves user experience by eliminating bad urinal odours, improves hygiene and reduces the frequency of urinal blockages and flooding. And because VERTECO’s waterless urinal systems are all retro fit, there is no need to change existing urinal fixtures meaning no plumbing costs and clients can achieve immediate, significant savings.
Do waterless urinals smell?
The cartridge improves airflow so the urinal can self-ventilate, and its built-in mesh catches harmful waste to prevent blockages in the drain or plumbing system.
At the same time, the system’s biological block – full of ‘friendly’ microbes – ensure harmful bacteria is destroyed and unpleasant smells are unable to linger. These clever microbes also form a bio film which makes potentially damaging by-products easier to breakdown.
Do urinals save water?
Waterless urinals eliminate the need to use water for flushing. An innovative cartridge and seal systems replaces the traditional flush system – reducing water use to zero.
Compared to flush urinals, VERTECO’s waterless urinal saves up to 157,000 litres of water per year, per urinal. Since its invention, it is estimated that globally, VERTECO’s water free urinal technology has saved an estimated 750 million cubic metres of water, AED 9 billion and 14.7 million kilos of carbon.
How much water does a urinal use per day?
An average flush of a urinal, several times an hour, could use hundreds of thousands of litres of water per year. In commercial buildings, as much as 42% of all water consumption is via urinal flushes.
Waterless urinals don’t flush, reducing water use to zero. It is estimated that they save on average 157,000 litres of water per year, per urinal. With proven operational, commercial, and environmental savings, waterless urinals cost nothing, but make significant savings from day one.
