Water Saving Solutions for Urinals

A traditional, flush urinal has a strainer which catches debris when water goes down the bowl. The trapped debris can cause odours above and below the bowl and as limescale builds up, acts as a breeding ground for bad bacteria and is a major cause of blockages and overspill.

Waterless urinals such as VERTECO’s retrofit system, eliminates all of the issues associated with a traditional flush urinal. Through the use of their patented seal and cartridge (the waterless urinal cartridge technology), they offer a hygienic and cost-effective system. The cartridge allows the urinal to self-ventilate and its in-built bmesh stops and harmful material from blocking the system. The seal, full of friendly bacteria, prevents harmful bacteria and bad smells from developing, and helps to breakdown harmful things like lime scale and uric acid. They also serve as an alternative to flushless urinals solutions.

The water saving urinal also improves user experience by eliminating bad urinal odours, improves hygiene and reduces the frequency of urinal blockages and flooding. The cartridge improves airflow so the urinal can self-ventilate, and its built-in mesh catches harmful waste to prevent blockages in the drain or plumbing system.

At the same time, the system’s biological block – full of ‘friendly’ microbes – ensure harmful bacteria is destroyed and unpleasant smells are unable to linger. These clever microbes also form a bio film which makes potentially damaging by-products easier to breakdown.
