VERTECO Proud to Announce Emirates Green Building Council Membership

24 January 2023

VERTECO, the region’s leading supplier of award-winning Data Driven Cleaning Technology, Smart Washroom Solutions and Water Saving Products, is honored to announce its position as a member of the Emirates Green Building Council (EGBC).

The EGBC is a non-government organisation that promotes and educates on sustainability in the built environment and is the official Green Building Council for the UAE, endorsed by the World Green Building Council. The organisation selects members, both individual and corporate, who strive to support their ambition of advancing green building principles to protect the environment and ensure sustainability for the UAE.

Uniting with the EGBC demonstrates VERTECO’s ongoing commitment and dedication to helping UAE businesses and organisations achieve their sustainability goals and improve eco-friendly efficiencies. Providing innovative and disruptive technology to support water management and conservation, energy reduction, as well as hygiene and related IoT Smart solutions within the built environment, the company has proudly helped businesses big and small across the region make a significant impact on their environmental footprint.

According to the United Nations, cities and the buildings within them consume around 78 per cent of the world’s energy and produce more than 60 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions. And with current projections indicating that by 2050 another 2.5 billion people will reside in urban areas, the figures are a cause for concern for countries around the world.

However, thanks to the work of organisations like the EGBC, and with the foresight of the UAE government, green building policies and regulations are in place in the UAE to reduce greenhouse emissions and improve the sustainability of construction. Additional measures, such as adopting consistent rating systems and ensuring the latest smart building technologies are implemented in new builds, further support this mission.

The EGBC also advocates increased awareness and knowledge sharing on building sustainable environments and communities, and as a result, has cemented the UAE’s position globally as a catalyst for change and innovation.

H.E. Dr. Ali Al Jassim, Chairman of the EGBC, said, “In the UAE, we have very clear strategic directions on creating sustainable environments and we are committed to achieving net zero carbon buildings. As set out in the UAE Clean Energy Strategy 2050, by enforcing regulations on the way we build and expand our cities, and by adopting environmental initiatives, such as Smart water management, throughout the lifecycle of every build, we can achieve truly sustainable places to live and work in the future. Working with organizations like VERTECO and other local specialists in sustainability, who offer the latest environmental technology and expertise, help us to make these ambitions a reality.

David King, Managing Director of VERTECO, said, “Sustainability lies at the core of all VERTECO does, and we are proud to announce our position as a member of the EGBC. Acting as a crucial platform to support the local mandates and decisive steps the UAE government has taken to ensure a sustainable future for the UAE, the council’s vision to be a global leader for sustainability in the built environment resonates with our own.

King continued, “Densely populated areas are a real cause for environmental concern and water scarcity remains a serious problem. However, our built environments offer us great potential to significantly and effectively reduce the amount of energy cities currently use and the EGBC has made this a reality for the UAE, changing both attitudes and practices in sustainable building. Through VERTECO’s range of smart water management and conservation products, which help to reduce water usage and general wastage, as well as our hygiene and related IoT smart solutions, we look forward to working together to ensure all buildings in the UAE are as environmentally and operationally efficient as possible.
